Cedar clearing means taking cedar (Ashe juniper) off pastures, lots, fence lines and homesites. Intex Rock and Cedar Solutions mulches it where it stands or cuts it and pushes it into burn piles. The oaks and the trees you pick stay standing. We are based in Kyle and work about 45 miles around it, across the Hill Country and the I-35 corridor.
The Texas A and M Forest Service describes the Hill Country west of I-35 as mostly cedar mixed with oaks. We clear that cedar for homeowners and landowners, and for commercial and development jobs. Cedar is one piece of land clearing in Kyle, and a job can add rock work or a road. Call or text (737) 317-7625 for a free estimate.

For a pasture, the reason is grass. Research published by the Texas A and M AgriLife Extension Service finds dense cedar sharply cuts pasture grass. Cedar also outcompetes grass for water, under its branches and in the open gaps between trees.
Cedar keeps rain off the ground, too. The same extension research found only about 20 percent of the year's rain reaches the soil under cedar. Under bunchgrass, about 82 percent does. The rest catches in the branches and the thick litter below, then dries back into the air.
Some owners clear for the oaks. Cedar growing close to a live oak may in time kill the oak, extension research notes. Others want a view opened up or room cleared for a homesite.
We clear cedar two ways, and you choose. Our forestry mulchers grind each tree where it stands and leave the mulch on the ground. The 400 horsepower wheeled mulcher covers open acreage, and the skid steer mulcher takes tight spots and fence lines. It is the same forestry mulching we use on brush and small trees.
The other way is cut and pile. We cut the cedar and push it into burn piles where you want them. You burn the piles when the weather and the rules allow.
In a drought, a county judge or the commissioners court can ban or limit outdoor burning outside city limits. Under state law, each order lasts up to 90 days, and a new one can follow. The state forest service posts a map of county burn bans. Mulched cedar leaves no pile to wait on.
Selective clearing starts with what stays. You show us the oaks and any cedar you want kept, and we clear around them. The skid steer mulcher works in close to trunks and along fences.
Oak wilt can enter an oak through a fresh wound. The state forest service names cedar clearing as one cause of those wounds. It advises avoiding oak wounds from February through June and painting any oak wound right away, in any month.
Oak trimming and oak wilt treatment are an arborist's work, so we leave that work to them. Our part is the cedar around and under the trees you keep.

When we finish, the ground is ready for the next step. That might be a house pad or topsoil for new grass.

I had Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions come out and rock mill about 2 acres of my field, and they did an outstanding job. The difference before and after was incredible. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and treated my property like it was their own.
Outstanding job by Trey with Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions! My wife and I were in need of a spot cleared for our future home and Trey exceeded our expectations. He also helped us with removing some old existing piers and leaving the ground nice and level. Highly recommend!
We recently had them out for a major project involving cedar clearing and rock crushing, and the results are incredible. They didn't just clear the land; they transformed the terrain. Their rock milling and crushing equipment turned rough, unusable limestone into a smooth, walkable surface.
