Underbrushing clears the cedar (Ashe juniper), brush, small trees and thickets under and around the trees you keep. Intex Rock and Cedar Solutions grinds that growth into mulch right where it stands. The land opens up, and the big oaks and every tree you pick stay standing.
We do underbrushing around Kyle and across the Hill Country, on residential and commercial land. It runs on the same machines as our forestry mulching. This work takes the low growth and leaves the trees you chose. If cedar across a whole pasture is the main problem, start with cedar clearing.

Thick cedar and brush can hide the land you own. Underbrushing takes out that low growth, so you can see through the trees and get around on foot. Oaks that were lost behind the cedar come into view.
Some owners want underbrush clearing for a view to the oaks from a homesite or an entrance drive. Others want a trail around the property or clear pasture edges. A long strip along a fence is fence line clearing, a job of its own. Underbrush removal can also come first, while you decide how to use the land.
Selective clearing starts when we look at the job. You point out the trees that stay, and the work goes around them. The Texas A and M Forest Service's mulching guidance says to mark the work area with paint or flagging. It also says to flag each plant you want protected.
That guidance says to look for hidden objects that could damage equipment or spark a fire. Remove them, or mark them with paint or flagging. Point those spots out when we look at the job too.
The skid steer mulcher works tight spots, and the 400 horsepower wheeled mulcher covers acreage. Both grind the growth into mulch and leave it on the ground. The forest service says mulching reduces erosion potential and stabilizes the soil. Mulch left on site helps the soil hold moisture.
The Texas A and M Forest Service says to avoid pruning or wounding oaks from February through June. Sap beetles that carry oak wilt spores are most active then. It also says to paint any oak wound right away, at any time of year.
Any paint works, the forest service says, because the point is to keep sap beetles off the wound. Only oaks need it, since oak wilt only affects oaks. Inside Kyle, the city code says oak wounds that expose sapwood shall be painted within 30 minutes. Ask the city office what applies to your lot.
Bring up the calendar when we look at the job, along with any oaks you are worried about. We clear the growth around your trees. Tree trimming and oak wilt treatment are other trades' work, so call an arborist for those.

I had Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions come out and rock mill about 2 acres of my field, and they did an outstanding job. The difference before and after was incredible. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and treated my property like it was their own.
Outstanding job by Trey with Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions! My wife and I were in need of a spot cleared for our future home and Trey exceeded our expectations. He also helped us with removing some old existing piers and leaving the ground nice and level. Highly recommend!
We recently had them out for a major project involving cedar clearing and rock crushing, and the results are incredible. They didn't just clear the land; they transformed the terrain. Their rock milling and crushing equipment turned rough, unusable limestone into a smooth, walkable surface.
