Rock Milling
We grind loose surface rock and boulders into 3/4 minus caliche right where they lie. The ground can then become a lawn, a pasture, a pad or a road.

Land clearing in Marble Falls starts with the rock under the brush. Some hills around town are limestone, and cedar (Ashe juniper) grows in their thin, cobbly clay. Others, out toward Granite Mountain, are pink granite that weathers into gravelly, sandy soil. On either kind of ground, cedar and loose rock often come off before a driveway or pad goes in.
Intex Rock and Cedar Solutions is based in Kyle, and Marble Falls is part of our service area. We bring our Hill Country land clearing to lots and acreage in and around town. That work covers cedar, surface rock, driveways and house pads, with a written quote before we start. Call or text (737) 317-7625 for a free estimate.

The federal soil survey maps two kinds of rocky ground around town. On the limestone hills, Eckrant soils run 4 to 20 inches of cobbly clay over solid rock. On the granite side, Click and Keese soils are gravelly, sandy loam weathered from granite. Bare rock shows through on both.
Granite Mountain, a pink granite dome about two miles northwest of town, supplied stone for the Texas Capitol. The survey describes both kinds of ground, in their natural state, as grassland with oaks. Under heavy grazing, it says, cedar moves in.
On the limestone side, rock milling turns loose surface rock into 3/4 minus caliche base in place. Rock up to 12 to 14 inches goes through the mill, and the hydraulic hammer breaks bigger boulders first. That base can become a driveway or a pad with no material hauled in. Where granite shows at the surface, we look at it in person before we quote.
On land being developed inside city limits, the city code protects 13 tree species once trunks reach 12 inches across. The list includes live oak, post oak, pecan and cedar elm. Cedar elm is a different tree from cedar, and cedar is not on the list.
Clear-cutting a property, or taking out a protected tree, needs a city permit first. A property clear-cut for any reason cannot get a preliminary plat or a site development permit for three years. Existing single-family lots of record are exempt, and so is clearing for agriculture.
The city's nonpoint source pollution rules treat clearing and grading as development. That work needs city approval, in town and in the city's ETJ just outside the limits. One home on a lot outside a subdivision is exempt, as is a stand-alone project of an acre or less. The city's Development Services Department answers which rules fit your land, and we point you there first.
Inside the city limits, a brush pile needs a burn permit from the city's Fire Rescue Department. Only brush and trees from that same property may go on it. On an acre or more of open land, a pile may be 10 feet square and 10 feet tall. Only one pile burns at a time, and smaller lots get smaller piles.
Out in the county, outdoor burning falls under state law. Burnet County may adopt a burn ban when conditions call for one, and a county ban overrides city burn permits. The county asks you to notify the sheriff's office before any outdoor burn.
Forestry mulching skips the pile. The mulcher grinds cedar where it stands and leaves the mulch on the ground. Our cedar clearing can go either way. We mulch it in place, or cut it and push it into piles for you to burn.
Marble Falls counted 7,037 people in the 2020 Census, and the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate is 9,633. More than half of the homes in town were built in 2000 or later. The city's 2024 long-range plan maps about 60 percent of its future land use area for single-family neighborhoods.
The city's development list shows Thunder Rock near US 281 and SH 71, and Thunder Rock Estates off RM 2147. Thunder Rock Estates covers 306 acres with 82 home lots. In 2024, Burnet County and TxDOT laid out plans to rebuild Wirtz Dam Road between RM 1431 and RM 2147. The plans include a new bridge over Lake Marble Falls.
Backbone Creek and Whitman Branch run through town into Lake Marble Falls, one of the Highland Lakes. Along creeks that drain 25 acres or more, the city keeps a 15-foot water quality buffer. A driveway crossing can go through it with city approval. Our site work covers driveways with culverts and level house pads on rocky lots.

I had Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions come out and rock mill about 2 acres of my field, and they did an outstanding job. The difference before and after was incredible. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and treated my property like it was their own.
Outstanding job by Trey with Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions! My wife and I were in need of a spot cleared for our future home and Trey exceeded our expectations. He also helped us with removing some old existing piers and leaving the ground nice and level. Highly recommend!
We recently had them out for a major project involving cedar clearing and rock crushing, and the results are incredible. They didn't just clear the land; they transformed the terrain. Their rock milling and crushing equipment turned rough, unusable limestone into a smooth, walkable surface.
Trey and his guys came out with this huge mulcher and made quick work of clearing my 30 acres. They worked long hours, made sure I was happy with everything before leaving, fair pricing, and very easy to work with. Highly recommend!
Trey and Intex did a great job on clearing my property. Up front and honest on pricing. Showed up on time when they said they would. Went above and beyond on the work I asked them to do. Great company.
I had my drive way get washed out during a bad storm and we couldn't get off the property without bottoming out. Trey came out and fixed our road and diverted future run off in the problem area to the ditch and culvert. While he was out he also took the time to clear branches and sticks from the side of the road to open up our drive that was getting over grown.
