Land clearing in Wimberley means working limestone hills above the Blanco River and Cypress Creek. Federal soil maps show much of this ground as shallow and rocky, often less than 20 inches over limestone. On many tracts, cedar (Ashe juniper) has filled in thick between the live oaks. Before a house pad or a drive goes in, the cedar and the loose rock usually have to come off.
Intex Rock and Cedar Solutions is based in Kyle, and Wimberley is part of our service area. In Wimberley, we do cedar clearing on homesites and pastures. We also do rock milling, which grinds loose surface rock into 3/4 minus caliche right where it lies. Call or text (737) 317-7625, and we look at the land and put a free estimate in writing.

Comfort and Real soils show up across most of the land around Wimberley, often mixed with bare rock outcrop. The federal soil survey describes both as shallow soils that formed over limestone. It also notes that cedar can spread into dense stands on Real soils when the land is grazed hard.
The 2020 Census counted 2,839 people inside Wimberley's city limits and 14,713 in the 78676 ZIP around it. Just over half the homes in that ZIP were built in 2000 or later, and 83 percent are detached houses. Most of them sit outside the city limits. A new homesite here starts with a cleared pad and a drive a truck can climb.
On lots like these, the cedar and the rock can come off in one job. Forestry mulching grinds the cedar and brush where they stand, and the oaks you pick stay. The mulch is left on the ground as cover. Then the tractor-mounted rock mill turns the loose rock into caliche base for the pad or the drive.
An old ranch shed or a slab can sit right where the new pad goes. Our light demolition takes it out first, and the plan for the debris is part of the written quote.
The Blanco River and Cypress Creek both run through Wimberley, and the creek flows past Blue Hole Regional Park. In May 2015, the Blanco rose to its highest level on record at the Wimberley gauge. The U.S. Geological Survey estimated the crest near 45 feet, at a gauge with records back to the 1920s. The flood destroyed several hundred homes in the floodplain.
Before you clear or grade land near either stream, look up the flood map. FEMA's Flood Map Service Center is the official online source for those maps. If your land sits in a mapped floodplain, talk to the city or the county before any fill or grading.
Hard rain also ruts caliche drives and washes out low spots where water crosses. Our site work covers regrading washed-out drives and setting culverts where the water runs. We can also cut a new drive from scratch, often with the property's own milled rock as the base.
It depends on which side of the city limits your land sits. The city limits cover about 9 square miles, while the 78676 ZIP covers about 168. Inside the limits, the City of Wimberley's Planning and Development department takes floodplain and site development applications. The city also has a demolition permit application, so ask the city before a building comes down.
Outside the limits, Hays County Development Services handles development permits. The county says it requires a permit for any kind of development. It defines development as all land modification activity. The county has no zoning outside city limits, but it checks whether a site sits in a floodplain.
The right office answers whether your job needs a permit, and we point you to it. Ask that question early, before the first tree comes down. Digging for a pad or a culvert can also call for a Texas 811 locate request two business days ahead.

I had Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions come out and rock mill about 2 acres of my field, and they did an outstanding job. The difference before and after was incredible. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and treated my property like it was their own.
Outstanding job by Trey with Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions! My wife and I were in need of a spot cleared for our future home and Trey exceeded our expectations. He also helped us with removing some old existing piers and leaving the ground nice and level. Highly recommend!
We recently had them out for a major project involving cedar clearing and rock crushing, and the results are incredible. They didn't just clear the land; they transformed the terrain. Their rock milling and crushing equipment turned rough, unusable limestone into a smooth, walkable surface.
Trey and his guys came out with this huge mulcher and made quick work of clearing my 30 acres. They worked long hours, made sure I was happy with everything before leaving, fair pricing, and very easy to work with. Highly recommend!
Trey and Intex did a great job on clearing my property. Up front and honest on pricing. Showed up on time when they said they would. Went above and beyond on the work I asked them to do. Great company.
I had my drive way get washed out during a bad storm and we couldn't get off the property without bottoming out. Trey came out and fixed our road and diverted future run off in the problem area to the ditch and culvert. While he was out he also took the time to clear branches and sticks from the side of the road to open up our drive that was getting over grown.
