Land Clearing, Rock Milling and Site Work Questions
FAQ
Questions About Land Clearing Work Around Kyle
These are the questions homeowners and landowners around Kyle ask us
most. They cover rock milling, cedar clearing, site work and how the
free estimate works. If yours is not here, call or text and we will
answer it.
Land clearing takes cedar (Ashe juniper), brush, small trees and loose rock off your land. That covers lot clearing for a homesite as well as pasture clearing on acreage. The goal is ground you can use, whether that means a house pad or a garden.
Can you clear the cedar and keep the oaks?
Yes. Show us the oaks and other trees you want to keep, and we work around them. The skid steer mulcher fits tight spots near their trunks. Selective cedar clearing like this can bring out oaks the cedar had hidden.
What happens to the cedar and brush after you clear it?
We can grind it into mulch where it stands with forestry mulching, and the mulch stays on the ground. If you would rather burn it, we push the cut cedar into burn piles for you. In dry spells the county can ban outdoor burning, so check before you light a pile.
What can you do about the rocks on my land?
We grind loose surface rock into a fine crushed base, 3/4 minus caliche, right where it lies. The mill takes rocks up to 12 to 14 inches across, and the hydraulic hammer breaks boulders and ledge first. The milled rock can become a driveway base, or the ground under new topsoil and sod.
Do you build ranch roads and building pads?
Yes. Our site work covers ranch roads and driveways, culverts, house and building pads, and washout repair. Milled rock from your own land often becomes the road base. A trench for utility lines goes to another trade.
Do you do demolition?
We do light demolition on farms and ranches. That covers old houses, sheds, barns, concrete slabs and old foundations. The hydraulic hammer breaks up concrete and rock, and the plan for the debris is part of your written quote.
Do I need a permit to clear my land?
It depends on where the land sits. Inside city limits, the city permit office answers that question, and we point you there. Over the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone, state rules can cover clearing that disturbs the soil. Clearing plants without disturbing the soil falls outside those rules.
How much does land clearing cost?
We price each job after we look at the land. The price moves with the acreage and how thick the cedar and brush grow. Rock, ledge, slope and access count too, along with the trees you keep. Call or text (737) 317-7625 for a free estimate, and the quote comes in writing.
What area do you serve?
We are based in Kyle, in Hays County, and we work about 45 miles around it. That covers San Marcos, Buda, Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Lockhart, Luling, Blanco, Johnson City, Bastrop and Marble Falls. Driftwood, Uhland, Dale and Smithville are in our area too.
