A homesite off US 290 or RR 12 around Dripping Springs often comes with two problems. Cedar (Ashe juniper) grows thick enough to hide the oaks. Limestone can sit within about a foot of the surface, with loose rock on top. Both stand in the way of a house pad or a driveway.
Intex Rock and Cedar Solutions is a Kyle land clearing company, and Dripping Springs is part of our service area. Our cedar clearing takes cedar off homesites and pastures, and the oaks stay. We also grind the loose rock into caliche base right where it lies. Call or text (737) 317-7625 for a free estimate.

Federal soil surveys map most of the land around town as thin soil over limestone. Comfort and Brackett soils lead the list, with bare rock outcrop mixed in.
The federal description puts hard limestone 10 to 20 inches under Comfort soil. Its surface is often very stony clay. The same description says this soil is mostly used for rangeland and rural homesites. The city's own tree code blames frequent droughts in part on these thin-soiled rock formations.
On Brackett soil, run-down range can fill in with cedar, by its federal description. We clear that growth with forestry mulching. Our 400 horsepower wheeled mulcher grinds the cedar where it stands, and the mulch stays on the ground. The skid steer mulcher takes the tight spots near the oaks.
Dripping Springs is growing fast. The 2020 Census counted 4,650 people in the city, up from 1,788 in 2010. The Census Bureau's estimate for July 2025 is 11,167, more than double in about five years.
Two of every three homes in the city were built in 2010 or later, by Census survey data. The city code names planned subdivisions such as Headwaters and Caliterra. Each new homesite needs cleared ground and a way in. Our site work cuts and grades driveways and house pads, often on a base of the lot's own milled rock.
Most land with a Dripping Springs address lies outside the city. At the 2020 Census, the city held under 9 square miles of land, while ZIP 78620 covered about 176.
Across that ZIP, more than 8 in 10 homes are detached houses, by Census survey data. The median home there was built in 2007. We work for homeowners and landowners on acreage across that whole area.
The city's site development rules cover the city limits and its extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ). The code counts clearing vegetation as development, and development needs a site development permit. Farm cultivation and single-family home developments are among the exemptions. The city's Planning and Development Department answers which rules fit your land.
Inside city limits, the tree code protects heritage trees. For most species, that means a trunk 18 inches or more across, measured 4.5 feet up. Taking one out needs an exception or a waiver from the city.
Outside the city limits, Hays County Development Services also answers permit questions. When a permit question comes up on your job, we point you to the right office.
Inside city limits, the code bars trimming or cutting oaks from February 1 to July 31, with a few exceptions. It also treats heavy machine work over a protected tree's root zone as damage to the tree. That zone runs one foot out from the trunk for every inch of trunk width. You pick the trees that stay, and we work around them.
Creeks get their own protection in the city code. When land is platted, the code sets water quality buffer zones along streams. Development work inside a buffer zone needs written approval from the city engineer. Ask the city before any clearing along a creek.

I had Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions come out and rock mill about 2 acres of my field, and they did an outstanding job. The difference before and after was incredible. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, and treated my property like it was their own.
Outstanding job by Trey with Intex Rock & Cedar Solutions! My wife and I were in need of a spot cleared for our future home and Trey exceeded our expectations. He also helped us with removing some old existing piers and leaving the ground nice and level. Highly recommend!
We recently had them out for a major project involving cedar clearing and rock crushing, and the results are incredible. They didn't just clear the land; they transformed the terrain. Their rock milling and crushing equipment turned rough, unusable limestone into a smooth, walkable surface.
Trey and his guys came out with this huge mulcher and made quick work of clearing my 30 acres. They worked long hours, made sure I was happy with everything before leaving, fair pricing, and very easy to work with. Highly recommend!
Trey and Intex did a great job on clearing my property. Up front and honest on pricing. Showed up on time when they said they would. Went above and beyond on the work I asked them to do. Great company.
I had my drive way get washed out during a bad storm and we couldn't get off the property without bottoming out. Trey came out and fixed our road and diverted future run off in the problem area to the ditch and culvert. While he was out he also took the time to clear branches and sticks from the side of the road to open up our drive that was getting over grown.
